Sarah Palin, former Alaska governor, the GOP nominee for 2008 vice president, and Tea Party favorite, announced Wednesday that she is not running for president. She said "my family comes first."
Palin also said: "After much prayer and serious consideration, I have decided that I will not be seeking 2012 GOP nomination for president of the United states. As always, my family comes first and obviously Todd and I put great consideration into family life before making this decision."
She added that she will "help coordinate strategies to assist in replacing the president, re-taking the Senate, and maintaining the House."
"Not being a candidate, you are unshackled and able to be even more active," she said. She also said "I can be on the right path without being a candidate." She also explained.
Palin also made it clear that she is not considering a third-party bid. She added that she believes "a third party would guarantee Obama's reelection, and that's the last thing that our republic can afford"
Her announcement comes a day after New Jersey Governor Chris Christie ruled himself out of the race.
Palin has published two best-selling books and set up a successful fundraising machine.
