Estonia Gas industry unbundling process begins



Juhan Parts emphasized that the state doesn’t need to be the operator of the gas network

TALLINN - Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications Juhan Parts has emphasized that removing the gas pipeline networks from Eesti Gaas’ control could increase customer bills by 0.2 percent at most, reports National Broadcasting. On Jan. 5, the government approved the amendment in the Natural Gas Act which will compel Eesti Gaas to sell its transmission grid by 2015 at the latest. At a government press conference, Parts said that this will not mean that the grid would be nationalized or that the network fees would grow. “
